A Little Bit About Me
My name is Helana M. Richason, and everything changed for me on October 27, 2016—the day I lost my older sister, Havala, to Lupus. She was only 41.
From a young age, I knew I wanted to help people in a holistic way. That passion led me to become a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2002. For nearly a decade, I poured my energy into helping others relieve their pain. But over time, I began hurting after every session. I assumed it was arthritis, but the physical toll of giving up to nine massages a day eventually became too much. After nearly 10 fulfilling years, I made the hard decision to step away and focus on my own health.
While I was struggling, so was my sister. Her daily battle with Lupus was relentless—and ultimately, it took her life. Her passing shattered me, and it also pushed me to finally confront my own health. I went to the doctor expecting an arthritis diagnosis. Instead, after a long series of tests, I was diagnosed with both Lupus and Hashimoto’s Disease.
At that time, I was nearly 300 pounds, in constant pain, and barely able to walk without limping. The same rheumatologist who treated my sister told me I’d need to rely on pain medication—and advised against regular exercise, claiming it would make my inflammation worse.
But I couldn’t accept that. I knew deep down there had to be another way.
On January 7, 2019—my sister’s birthday—I began my journey to take my health back. That date wasn’t random; it was intentional. It was my way of honoring her and keeping her with me every step of the way.
By Christmas Eve 2020, I had lost 120 pounds. More importantly, I had brought my inflammation under control and learned to manage both of my autoimmune conditions—without relying on pain meds. I did it through clean eating, consistent movement, and relentless determination.
Now, my mission is to help others like me—people who have been told there’s no hope, that medication is the only answer, and that movement is too risky. That’s simply not true. You can take your health back.
Let me show you how. Let me walk beside you, just like I wished someone had done for me. You deserve to feel strong, supported, and empowered again.
